It Matters Who You Are Lately I've been to a few writers night round or open mike events here in Nashville. I've notice one thing about a few of these singer/songwriters. Many of them will get up when it's their turn to sing and tell us the title of the song, perhaps a little bit about it...but they don't introduce themselves. Then, I end up having to chase them down and say, "hey, that was a great song...but what's your name?" Whatever you do, who you are does matter. If you are an artist or creative person, if you do something that resonates with someone, you don't want to miss a chance to be further encouraged, sell some product or gain a new audience member the next time you're sharing your talents because people didn't know where or how to find you or didn't have a name to put with it all. I've said this often but I'll repeat it again. Modesty and humility is a wonderful trait to have. But don't go too extreme so that you bury yourself and lose out on encouragement. Who you are is important because after all, there's only one of you and no one will ever be you the way you are. That makes you pretty special. It matters who you are. So, be sure to tell us!
