From Day Job To Dream Job

As regular readers of this newsletter know, I do a podcast called "Wendy V's Ponder Cast". I've talked about musical memories to the three ways of embracing encouragement. Recently, I did an interview on the "Ponder Cast" that I think can be an inspirational jump-start to people who dream of making a living with their talents...or simply by doing something they love.

My good friend Michael Loonan is a multi-talented musician, performer, producer, arranger, voice talent and many other things you'll learn about if you listen to the interview. Having known him for years, I've watched his journey to a musician with a day job to where he is now...working full time from home on his musical endeavors. 

This was no overnight success...it took many years for him to get to this point. Over the course of the interview, Michael repeated two things that were critical to his success:

- Encouragement from others.  Michael paid close attention to those around him who recognized the value of his talents and told him he needed to be doing something with them. It was that push from those who supported him that got him started with his first recording.

- Taking a leap of faith. Being keenly aware of risk and obstacles, Michael made a couple of choices at key points in his career that were dramatic shifts...but paid off in the long run.
