Frequency To The Heart "Frequency To The Heart" is my segment on the radio show "T.J. and Company" that I co-host with T.J. Kirby on Radio Free Nashville on Saturday afternoons where I share encouraging words. This month I was inspired to write a "radio related" piece of sorts for this series. If you are still in need of convincing of the life-changing power of encouragement, I recommending checking out a DVD of a movie called "Radio". No, it's not about us DJs. It is the true life story of a young man nicknamed "Radio" because of his fascination with and collection of radios. "Radio" was a young man with multiple developmental challenges who couldn't speak very much. That is, until a high school athletic coach, Harold Jones, noticed him pushing his cart every day by the field. After his players teased and abused Radio one day, the coach decides to take Radio under his wing and gives him the task of supporting the team...intending also to teach his young players a lesson. Gradually, a transformation happens. Radio begins to speak and open-heartedly encourages the players. After a while, the players finally get it and learn to love him. Eventually he gets an education, and a lifelong job encouraging and supporting the high school teams that continues in real life to the present day. It only takes one person to see the possibilities in someone and help them realize their potential. Maybe that life-changer can be you.
