It Matters What You Do

Earlier this year I wrote a piece about how much it matters who you are. This time I'm here to say that it not only matters who you are, but it also matters what you do.

I truly believe this: Every single one of us has some sort of God-given talent, gift or ability. Those gifts can be used at any time, sometimes in ways in which we least expect them to be. One is not more important or valued than the other. 

Yes, it may seem as though the opposite is true in the marketplace. But, that's a material perspective. All of you who are in a situation where you aren't currently making a living with your true talents, raise your hand (right along with me!). However,  I submit that each one of us can think of a time where one of our gifts impacted someone positively. You gave a word of encouragement when it was most needed. Someone was touched by that song or poem you wrote. 

It's a competitive world out there. We all have our preferences. Sometimes it can be hard to watch others get celebrated when it feels like you are being overlooked.  If someone's talent is getting noticed and your gifts aren't, hold on...tomorrow's another day and it could be you making a difference in a whole new situation. That's how this world moves. 

Do what you do. What you do matters. 

Be an encourager...and be encouraged!
