When It's Not A Fit Sometimes in life we just end up in the wrong places. Often these places look like they're the right ones at the time. But like the saying goes of "you never really know a person until you've married him or her", you don't know quite what a situation like a job, relationship, or other commitment is really like until you're in the midst of it. Unfortunately, when you realize you're a square peg in a round hole situation, but others around you haven't, perceptions can get distorted. People can form an opinion of you based only on what's in front of them without knowing the whole story of who you are and what your gifts are. This is when it's really important to stay strong in who you are and what you bring to the table of life. Remember that the job that didn't work out doesn't define you, or the rejection that you experience in one instance doesn't diminish the value of your gifts. Surround yourself with a good encourager to remind you of these points. Keep searching for that place where you know you can shine. Also remember that non-successes can be good things, too. They are opportunities to learn more about yourself. Knowing what doesn't work is as helpful as knowing what does. That way, you can avoid those situations in the future because you've had that experience under your belt. It's all good, as they say. Be an encourager...and be encouraged! ---Wendy V |
