What If I Did...Or What If I Didn't?

One of the most difficult things many people struggle with in trying to make a life-altering decision is that old two sided question: "what if I did?", or "what if I didn't?".

Without a doubt, our comfort zones make this mental ping-pong game a marathon match. You tell yourself it's "comfortable" to stay in that job that doesn't feed your soul because you get "benefits" and you don't have to do the whole "sell yourself" ritual...and maybe you're afraid that if you leave you'll never get other work because you're too (fill in the blank) or you may fail if you try to strike out on your own. 

On the other hand, what if you did try to go for what you really wanted, and it worked? 

The problem is, of course, that none of us has a crystal ball to know what the outcome's going to be. So then, that brings forward some other questions to deal with:

If you don't go for the dream, will you spend your life wondering "what if I did" and will it eat away at you and cause regrets?

Are you lacking the courage to try? What roadblocks need to be eliminated to give you the courage?

What steps can you take now to try to reach your goal?

The questions are an important part of the journey. I'd love to be able to give you the answers to these questions. But, ultimately, the only one who can answer these for you is you. How you respond decides on whether you keep standing at the crossroads...or start walking down the road of change.
