Little Wonders Forgive me for continuing on the song kick a little while longer. A couple of weeks ago, I came across a song which, had I known about it when I wrote last month's piece, would have risen straight to the top of my top 5 inspiring and encouraging songs. As it is, I'm not sure how I missed it this long, because it is by one of my very favorite artists. It seems that no matter what I'm going through in my life, Rob Thomas "gets it" and has a song that absolutely nails it on a deep level. Sometimes I can't even explain why...but I do know when the internal tuning fork goes off, and it does quite often when I listen to him and his songs. I recently realized that there are some things in my life I need to say goodbye to. Just when I came to that conclusion, along came this song that just about summed it all up for me. This particular song in question is "Little Wonders", written and sung by Rob and featured in the "Meet the Robinsons" movie soundtrack. It's a beautiful lyric which is a perfect scenario for a "one season ends, another begins" life experience. The song's sentiment of letting go, being defined by a new clarity yet remembering how it feels at a particular moment puts you squarely in the place between the old and new. It's hard to step away, and even the pain tries to keeps you in that place only because it's what you've known for so long. Yet you know that you must move on if you're going to grow. Rob reminds us in the lyrics that in these twists and turns of fate, it is the heart that really matters. You can listen to "Little Wonders" by Rob Thomas as my current profile song on my MySpace page, or listen to a sample on ITunes. Be an encourager...and be encouraged! ---Wendy V |
